List of Seminars/Presentations Offered By Circle of Friends Quilting

Looking for something a bit different at your monthly sewing/quilting guild meetings?  We have a variety of fabulous demo/lecture style presentations available that offer handouts, samples, step-by-step instruction, lots of information and sometimes even a kit with samples or a project included.  Please email or call for more information and for dates available.  Note: There is a charge for each of the presentations and mileage depending on location.  Special rates may apply, please inquire.

*Lecture/Demo Style Presentation including handouts and often several patterns is a flat rate of $100.00 for up to 30 people and $150.00 for up to 70 people.  Inquire on prices for more than 70.  Many samples and step-by-step instruction also included.

*Seminars that include all of the above plus a sample or mini-project kit are $5.00 per person, usually with a 10 person minimum. 

*Mileage, if applicable, is 35 cents a mile.

MEMORY QUILTING SEMINAR   Approx. 1 ½ Hours  $5.00 per person

(Min. 10 persons, Max. No limit)

     By far the most popular seminar today, this awesome class offers complete instruction in the many ways to create a memory quilt or project.  Reach into the past and use your old hankies, linens, ties, photos and more to make a one of a kind memory.  Many samples including a T-shirt Quilt, Tie Quilt, Photo transfer via computer projects, Scrapbook Quilt and more.  Several patterns, handouts and a mini-quilting kit (geared toward all levels) are included in the class fee.  You may view some of the samples on the COFQ website by clicking here:  MEMORY QUILTING.

AWESOME APPLIQUÉ     Approx. 1 ½ Hours         $5.00 per person

(Min. 10 persons, Max. No Limit)

     Turn your plain, ordinary projects into works of art by adding some fabulous embellishment.  This seminar covers the many different techniques for appliqué and the tools required for a perfect application.  Many samples that include fabric appliqués, shadow appliqué, couching, dimensional, felted wool and more.  Handouts, several patterns and a sample kit with fusibles, stabilizers and project supplies are all included in the class fee.  Click here to see samples!

THE HISTORY OF QUILTING    Approx. 1 ½ Hours    $5.00 per person

(Min. 10 persons, Max. No Limit)

     This fascinating seminar will take you on a quilting trip through time.  We will explore quilting beginning in the late 1600’s and journey through to present day.  Many samples including Amish quilting, Pioneer quilts, the Charm quilt, Underground Railroad designs, Civil War Era quilts, Depression Era quilts and more will be offered.  Handouts, patterns and tons of information included in the class fee as well as a mini-quilt kit with fabrics.

SCRAPBOOK QUILTING    Approx. 1 ½ Hours    $5.00 per person

(Min. 10 persons, Max. No Limit)

     The latest craze!  This seminar offers many great ideas and step by step instruction in taking your favorite scrapbook pages and turning them into a fabulous fabric work of art.  Many samples available and discussion on t-shirt quilting, photo transfer and embroidery embellishing.  Kit includes several general patterns for scrapbook quilts and a scrapbook fabric page to make!   

INSPIRATIONAL QUILTING    Approx. 1 ½ Hours    $5.00 per person

(Min. 10 persons, Max. No Limit)

     The bible has long been an inspirational source for quilters.  This seminar offers many samples of quilts and quilt block designs that relate to bible scripture and stories.  We also offer information on several women of the past along with their quilt designs and influence on the bible blocks.  The kit includes several bible quilt patterns (the Quilted Inspirations sample is shown) plus the "Jacobs Ladder" quilt block pattern and fabric to make a block.

BEGINNING QUILTING CLASS       2 Hours         $25.00

      (Min. 4 students, Max.-as many as can comfortably sit at a sewing machine)  Student must bring their own sewing machine and scissors.  The pattern, ALL fabrics and supplies are included in the class fee.

     This is truly the perfect class for the beginning quilter or anyone just needing a brush-up course.  The class covers Rotary Cutting, Piecing, Layering, Basting, Quilting and Finishing.  All supplies are included so the student need bring nothing except  their sewing machine.  Student will make a candle mat in class (remember, fabrics are included also!).  Samples are available if requested.  Fabrics are instructors’ choice!  Handouts and the candle mat pattern are also included.  Perfect class for gift ideas for the Holidays. 

THE ART OF EMBELLISHING           Approx. 1 ½ Hours      $5.00 per person

(Min. 10 persons, Max. No Limit)  Lecture/Demo Style

     Techniques in embellishing are only as limited as your imagination and we’ll try to touch on all of them!  Turn a drab, ordinary item into a work of art by adding some appliqué, cutwork, couching, embroidery, beading and more. Complete instruction in application and information on the necessary tools used to create your unique project. Many samples, handouts, patterns and a mini-project kit all included in the class fee.
